Artificial Nails

Artificial Nails. Technology and types of nail extensions

You may want to have beautiful long fingernails : elegant nails to add to your refined looks. Unfortunately often when they reach a certain length, nails begin to break .You should not worry. Artificial nails are a great substitute if your own let you down.

Artificial nails came about because of this widespread problem. The term artificial nails include several technologies. The most simple and accessible way to create a new look is through the use of artificial nails. They are sold in any good cosmetic store in different shapes, lengths and colours. They are best applied to the nail when it is grease free . The nails are glued on top of the natural nail and are made of plastic or nylon. Once they are secured they can be filed and adjusted to suit. Despite this availability and ease of fixing, these nails often look quite unnatural.

Nails which are also artificial through simulation of different materials are also available. The most popular of these is one which involves acrylic powder and a special solid resin. As a result you get flexible , strong, and elastic nails. Acrylic nails, as well as resin nails, buildeup on forms and tips.

The first version of nail extension which involves building on the original nail is possible only in cases where there is the free edge of the nail, which grows. Using a special form for the nail, a false piece is substituted under the nail plate, creating the continuation of the natural nail. After the nail has been lengthened, on top is put another layer of the material , to make the transition invisible, and the nail plate can become highly resistant to external influences. The acrylic material quickly solidifies. When the job is done well it is almost impossible to distinguish a fake nail from a natural one. With the help of special powders that are added to the material, the nail takes on a natural colour.

The advantage of acrylic replacements is that they are easy to remove. With a special solvent the substance dissolves and is easily removed. The disadvantage of the acrylic material is a medicinal smell, which quickly dissipates.

Gel also perfectly simulates a really healthy nail due to its smooth shiny appearance. The gel solidifies on forms or on tips with the help of ultraviolet light. But, once cracked not repaired ,you will have to prepare a new nail.

It is difficult to get rid of gel nails and this is done by filing off the nail . The second method of artificially growing nails involves the using of 'tips' which are blanks in the form of a nail. Tips for nails are usually made from the same material as used in the building. By those materials they are attached to nail. Normally such technology is used when the nail has no free edge. The results look great, and hold for a long time. This can be from 3 to 4 months, with monthly correction.

Nails which are built in this way require careful maintenance. First, of course, you have to be more aware of your fingers. When doing household tasks you need to take more care to avoid hitting the nails and perform all household cleaning work in rubber gloves. Also it is necessary to carry some glue in your purse or bag in the event of damage ,as the cracked nail might stick up. The glue will perform the duty of a temporary repair.

Built nails can be varnished using conventional lacquers, which should be removed using acetone-free oil-based fluids. These types of nail should be filed with a fine, non iron nail file and they should be polished in the usual way .

This type of nail should not be used during a course of antibiotics or chemotherapy. At that time acetone can build up in the body which can cause the nails to come off . Another problem can occur if the cuticle is damaged in any way before the built nail is begun. In this event there is the danger of fungal infection. It is better to do a manicure with particular reference to the cuticles two or three days before the procedure is carried out.

Correction extensed (accrued) nails

When using correctable extension nails your own nail grows gradually and near the cuticle forms a strip behind the acrylic extension. Therefore for the nails to be look well-groomed it is necessary to adjust the nails about once in 2-3 weeks (depending on the rate of growth of your own nails).

If after two or three months your own nail grows out to such a length that means that only the tip is artificially completing it, the tips need to be replaced , because they can be separated from the natural nail.

Are artificial nails harmful?
Modern artificial nails, particularly from large well-known producers are completely harmless to the natural nails. Natural nails grow normally underneath them.

Choosing the length of stackable nails
The choice depends on you. You should only follow one basic rule when lengthening your nail . The edge extending beyond the natural nail bed must be shorter than the natural nail bed. Optimally, the extension should only be half the length of the nail. Otherwise, the nail may break. If you are not accustomed to long nails, it is best to start with a small length at your first attempt until your fingers adjust to the length of longer nails.

The strength of artificial nails
Artificial nails are quite strong, as we are dealing here with tried and tested materials and structures. But if you prefer longer fingernails, you first have to learn how to use your hands more carefully.
